Actress Nina Dobrev invests big in the cannabis-infused beverage company
The famous actress Nina Dobrev known for her splendid role in The Vampire Diaries has invested in Cann. It’s the world’s first low-dose cannabis beverage, and is now being invested in by Nina Dobrev.
Cann is roughly about $18 for a six-pack and comes in a varied number of flavors. This Monday, the firm revealed that it had raised $27 million in Series A capital for worldwide growth into Canada, where cannabis is legal.
The actress has recently become the latest celebrity investor and is betting on cannabis’s refreshing beverages. Nina, who has about 25 million Instagram followers and is dating an Olympic Snowboarder – Shaun White, told Fortune that Cann was introduced to her by a close friend.
She initially remained hesitant, but gradually, after experimenting with the microdose social tonic, she genuinely enjoyed it completely. To her amazement, the modest quantities in Cann’s cocktails were just the perfect beverages that she needed to relax without feeling inebriated. She had said that its taste was similar to a cocktail while its effects remain quite subtle, so it was a win-win.
Dobrev had told Fortune that while Cann’s beverages are a total amaze for folks who don’t even want to consume alcohol, she still enjoys wine and feels both drinks are delicious. “enhance the social experience and give an uplifting social buzz,” She adds.
As being a big investor, she constantly encourages her friends to try the products and has observed that this helps fill the unnecessary gap in the entire cannabis industry.
Cann is not the actress’s first successful venture into the beverage industry since, in 2019, Nina had also co-founded Fresh Vine – a low-carb and low calorie, gluten-free wine company.
When Dobrev was asked as to why she chose to invest in such a product that could turn out to be potential competition for her company, she said, “I don’t feel like there is a competition at all; I think they complement each other very well”.
Also, she added that it makes sense given that one drink is alcohol-free and cannabis-infused, while the other is a wine. She also feels that folks who usually consume alcohol might benefit from Cann’s gentle and soothing effects.
According to municipal-bond analysts at Barclays Plc, cannabis tax income in the United States earned more than $2 billion last year and might increase to $10 billion to $12 billion for states by 2030, surpassing alcohol tax revenue.
This year, five states legalized recreational marijuana: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Virginia, and New Mexico, increasing the total number of states implementing legislation to regulate and tax cannabis for adult use to 18.
According to Nina, people might enjoy and even start loving the social tonic just as they enjoy a stressbuster alcoholic beverage. The actress is quite confident and proud of her recent investment.
However, Cann is currently only available in just a handful of states or even in the online globe, but the company aims to grow and release more and more exciting beverage flavors as well as products.
