Sheikh Mohammed Receives Syrian President

According to U.A.E. and Syrian state media, Mr. Assad was received at his palace by Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al Nahyan and separately in Dubai by its ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum.

His Majesty Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai met with Syrian President Bashar Al Assad on Friday at the Al Marmoom Rest House in Dubai.

During the meeting, Sheikh Mohammed welcomed Al Assad and his accompanying delegation, which falls within the framework of the two countries’ brotherly relations. Sheikh Mohammed expressed his heartfelt wishes for Syria and the entire region to experience peace, security, stability, and prosperity.

The meeting focused on the two countries’ overall relations and the prospects for expanding cooperation in a way that fulfills the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples, achieves their comprehensive development goals, and increases the chances of peace and stability in Syria and the region as a whole.

The two sides also discussed the current situation in Syria, as well as various developments on the Arab and international stages, as well as all topics of mutual interest.

Sheikh Mohammed reaffirmed the UAE’s eagerness to explore new avenues of constructive cooperation with Syria, as well as to monitor opportunities to advance this cooperation in the mutual interests of the two brotherly peoples.

Meanwhile, at Qasr Al Shati, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, received Bashar Al Assad.

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed welcomed the Syrian President’s visit, which comes as part of the two countries’ desire to continue consultation and coordination on a variety of issues of mutual interest.

Sheikh Mohamed expressed his hope that this visit will pave the way for goodness, peace, and stability in Syria and the region as a whole. President Al Assad briefed the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi on the latest developments in Syria.

The two sides discussed the two nations’ fraternal relations as well as the prospects for fostering cooperation and joint coordination to achieve their common interests and contribute to the consolidation of security, stability, and peace in the Arab region and the Middle East.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed a variety of issues of mutual interest, emphasizing the importance of preserving Syria’s territorial integrity and the withdrawal of foreign forces from the country, as well as providing political and humanitarian support to Syria and its people in order to find a peaceful solution to all of the country’s challenges.

Sheikh Mohammed emphasized that Syria is a critical pillar of Arab security and that the UAE is eager to strengthen cooperation with it in order to achieve the brotherly Syrian people’s aspirations for stability and development.

They discussed the positions of the two countries on all regional and international issues and developments of mutual interest.

The delegation accompanying Syria’s President, including Dr. Faisal Mekdad, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, and a number of officials, also attended the meeting.
