Rakesh Jhunjhunwala- backed airline ‘Akasa Air

Akasa Air, which is sponsored by Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, has released the first images of its Boeing 737 Max aircraft ahead of taking delivery from the US manufacturer. After a nearly two-month delay, Akasa Air expects to receive its first Boeing 737 Max plane in mid-June and begin commercial operations in July.

The airline has revealed the first photos of the Max plane as it prepares for delivery at the Boeing assembly site in Portland, Oregon. The plane is dressed in the brand’s Orange and Purple livery, which is new to the Indian market.

“The airline has confirmed its intention to receive its first aircraft in India by mid-June and to begin commercial operations in India by July 2022,” according to the statement. By the end of March 2023, Akasa expects to operate 18 aircraft throughout internal routes in the country, with a concentration on metro to tier-2 and tier-3 cities, according to the company.
